BSP Law Charitable Foundation Names 2026 Joel Stern Scholarship Winner

BSP Law is proud to announce that the 2026 recipient of the BSP Law Charitable Foundation Joel Stern Scholarship is Danielle DeWalt, a 2L at Texas A&M University School of Law.

The Joel Stern Scholarship was established in honor of Joel Stern, who served as the CEO of the National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) and spent over 25 years as in-house counsel for major companies.

Throughout his career, Joel was known for creating impactful legal programs and mentoring professionals across the industry.

This scholarship provides financial support to law students who demonstrate strong leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in the legal field.

To surprise Danielle with the news, our team invited her under the impression she was meeting for a second-round interview—only to present her with a check and announce her as this year’s winner.

At Texas A&M Law, Danielle has excelled both academically and professionally, earning a 3.90 GPA and ranking 1st in her class of 120. She serves as a Note & Comment Editor on the Texas A&M Law Review, a Teaching Assistant for Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing, and recently competed as an oralist on the Moot Court team.

Beyond the classroom, Danielle has dedicated herself to public interest work by volunteering at The Net FW Survivor Support Group and previously serving as an outreach intern at Fort Worth County Jail while connecting survivors of sex trafficking to crucial resources. She has also gained valuable legal experience as a judicial intern to the Honorable Catharina Haynes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and as a Public Policy Fellow at Unbound Now, where she focused on human trafficking legislation.

We are thrilled to support Danielle as she continues her legal education and look forward to seeing all that she will accomplish.
