Brent Winslow is a litigation associate whose practice focuses on high-stakes motions and appeals, drawing on valuable experience gained through clerkships with the Michigan Supreme Court, Eastern District of Michigan, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He also brings strong experience in trial litigation, including discovery and trial preparation. Brent maintains an active pro bono practice, with a particular focus on criminal justice advocacy, and is dedicated to using his legal skills to support underserved communities and advance access to justice.
- Won dismissal of individual CEO defendants in wrongful death suits against a major airplane manufacturer
- Secured dozens of pre-trial victories on motions in limine relating to experts and other evidentiary issues in wrongful death suits against a major airplane manufacturer
- Secured summary judgment for a major PFAS manufacturer in product liability and class action case
- Helped represent pro bono Section 1983 defendant before Seventh Circuit in a case that clarified that failure-to-protect claims under the Fourteenth Amendment do not require a showing of subjective awareness
Before joining BSP, Brent worked as an associate at Winston & Strawn LLP in Chicago as a member of the firm’s Appellate & Critical Motions group.
Before entering private practice, Brent served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joan L. Larsen of the Sixth Circuit, the Honorable Stephanie Dawkins Davis of the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Honorable Elizabeth T. Clement of the Michigan Supreme Court.
Brent received his J.D., cum laude, from University of Michigan Law School. There, he participated in and served as Problem Chair for the Henry M. Campbell Moot Court Competition and as a member of the school’s Federal Appellate Litigation Clinic. He received his B.A.s, highest distinction, in Political Science and Philosophy, and a minor in Classic and Ancient Mediterranean Studies.

For the Community
Brent has written several merits briefs and amicus briefs in pro bono appellate cases involving civil rights and criminal law. He has a particular interest in habeas corpus.
