Jonathan H. Jones employs his extensive trial experience and case management acumen defending automotive manufacturers and insurance companies in product liability and catastrophic injury cases nationwide. A former prosecuting attorney, Jonathan continues to pursue his passion for public service as a pro bono attorney for individuals in need.

  • Conducted negotiations and achieved favorable settlement on behalf of client alleging retaliation in violation of the First Amendment.
  • Drafted and argued key motions on behalf of non-parties subject to intrusive subpoenas.
  • Achieved favorable settlements for major automotive manufacturer in product liability disputes involving serious injuries.
  • Advised major mortgage lender on its rights and obligations under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.

Before joining Bush Seyferth PLLC, Jonathan was an assistant prosecuting attorney at the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office in Pontiac, MI. As a prosecutor, Jonathan independently tried six jury trials to verdict. He was charged with managing every step in the litigation process, including witness interviews, discovery management, motion practice, plea negotiations, trials, and sentencing.

Jonathan received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was executive editor of the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology. In addition, Jonathan was a member of the executive board of the National Trial Advocacy Team. He received his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Michigan.

Jonathan serves as a pro bono attorney for individuals seeking to have old criminal convictions expunged through The City of Detroit’s Project Clean Slate. In his free time, Jonathan volunteers as a dog-walker at the Oakland County Pet Adoption Center.
