9.11.23 – BSP Law Attorney Hosts “A Blind Taste” Event
BSP Law Attorney Charles Smith recently emceed “A Blind Taste,” a unique dinner experience started by Charles and Chef Justin Devillier at La Petite Grocery in New Orleans, Louisiana. This event serves as a fundraiser for WRBH Reading Radio, which holds the distinction of being the sole full-time reading service available on the FM dial throughout the United States.
The radio service broadcasts readings of newspapers, books, and magazines so that the blind and print-impaired receive the same ease of access to current information as their sighted peers.
A champion of the radio station, Smith for several years hosted the popular Charlie’s Music Show—an interview and performance series—as part of WRBH’s original programming. He also currently serves the organization as the board president.
“It’s the people that make WRBH,” Smith said. “The production has a grassroots ethos—they sound like people you know, people you can imagine. Having a local read to you evokes a certain feeling.”
