Bush Seyferth PLLC, a litigation boutique with offices in Michigan and Texas, seeks associates for its growing team. Though smaller than “big law” firms, BSP Law punches well above its weight, providing nationwide litigation services with trial skills second to none. Some of America’s best-known companies look to BSP Law for successful results in product liability litigation, complex business litigation, class actions, and appeals.
An associate filling our open position should have an interest in handling product liability cases, but will also have opportunities to work in BSP Law’s other trial litigation practice areas. Many of our attorneys have returned to working mostly in-office, but BSP Law has embraced a forward-looking hybrid in-person/remote environment. Depending on qualifications and role—and after initial onboarding—we will consider remote-first candidates.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication (both written and oral) skills;
- Strong attention to detail and highly responsive and efficient work habits;
- A desire to produce top-quality work and continually improve;
- Leadership and ownership on cases; and

Skills & Qualifications:
- 2-6 years’ experience in civil litigation, including drafting pleadings, taking depositions, and arguing motions;
- Deep thinker; efficient researcher; persuasive writer and speaker; and
- Michigan or Texas Bar License (or ability to waive in).
Job duties include:
- Identification and analysis of complex legal issues;
- Drafting and responding to discovery requests (which requires gathering, organizing, and indexing large volumes of paper and electronic materials);
- Drafting and responding to motions;
- Taking depositions and assisting with preparation of witnesses for depositions;
- Frequent communication with opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and clients;
- Frequent analysis of technical issues;
- Analyzing engineering documents and various other file materials, and preparing these materials for electronic production; and
- Responding to deposition notices (which includes proper objections, scope analysis, and definition).

Bush Seyferth PLLC is a boutique litigation firm with a national practice seeking to fill the role of a Legal Administrative Assistant. Job Duties:
- Coordinate complex scheduling and extensive calendar management.
- Organize emails and other case-related documents into case folders within the document management system.
- Draft, edit, format, and finalize documents.
- Organize and track case materials.
- Maintain/update contact lists, distribution lists, and case lists.
- Conduct conflict checks and initiate the necessary paperwork to open and close matters.
- Assemble and maintain case organization documents, including to-do lists, master case spreadsheet, chronologies, etc.
- Create case information sheets, notebooks, and deposition preparation notebooks, including exhibits for depositions.
- Schedule depositions and deposition preparation sessions.
- Request documents from clients.
- Gather responsive documents from BSP database.
- Draft correspondence to opposing counsel.
- Send document production to opposing counsel.
- Handle travel arrangements and submit expense reports.
- Understand court requirements and prepare documents for filing with the court, including e-filings.
- Organize and input attorney time utilizing the Firm’s time-entry software.
- Create and maintain a listing of attorneys and client-specific information of items or tasks to be done to provide a high level of support.
- Provide backup to other Legal Administrative Assistants and Receptionist as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of administrative assistant experience (legal preferred).
- A high degree of discretion is required.
- Proficient with office technology and conferencing equipment, specifically Zoom and Teams, and Microsoft Office software, including the ability to learn new software and procedures. Experience with Net Documents, SharePoint and OneNote a plus.
- Ability to prioritize, show strong attention to detail, and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment where strict deadlines are common.

The role involves firmwide responsibilities, but the position is offered for a qualified candidate in our Troy, Michigan office. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of recruiting, culture, and people operations and who understands that great firms are built through intentional hiring and meaningful employee experiences. This is a highly visible role responsible for attracting top legal talent, guiding candidates through a thoughtful recruiting process, and supporting employees throughout their time at BSP. While this role oversees core people processes, it is not a traditional HR position—it is focused on recruiting and building a consistent experience across the firm that emphasizes our core values. You will partner with our firm’s attorneys to recruit and manage talent as our already successful firm grows and builds for the future.
What You’ll Do:
Recruiting & Talent Attraction
- Manage end-to-end recruiting for attorneys, law students, interns, law clerks, paralegals, and support staff.
- Help build and maintain strong recruiting pipelines through law schools, judges, alumni networks, and legal organizations.
- Coordinate on-campus recruiting, OCI programs, internships, and early-career initiatives in partnership with attorneys and Marketing.
- Manage job postings, sourcing efforts, recruiting vendors, and external recruiters.
- Conduct active candidate sourcing using LinkedIn, professional databases, and modern recruiting tools.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates from initial outreach through offer acceptance.
Employee Experience & People Operations
- Own onboarding and offboarding experiences, ensuring employees feel supported from day one through departure.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee questions, feedback, and engagement.
- Support performance review processes, culture initiatives, and employee recognition programs.
- Manage employee benefit programs, including the annual health insurance renewal.
- Conduct 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins with new hires.
- Help maintain firm protocols and standards related to office experience, hybrid work, and employee engagement.
Systems, Metrics & Process Improvement
- Help implement an applicant tracking system.
- Track recruiting and employee metrics such as time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and retention trends.
Who You Are:
- Experienced in recruiting within a law firm environment.
- Skilled at relationship-building and comfortable engaging with senior attorneys, students, and leadership.
- Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple recruiting cycles and priorities.
- A strong communicator who can tell a compelling story and create positive experiences.
- Comfortable owning people-related processes without needing a traditional HR structure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (HR, business, communications, or related field preferred).
- 5–10+ years of legal experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or people-focused roles.
- Experience recruiting across multiple role types and seniority levels.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and people-related best practices.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
