9.24.26 – Bush Seyferth and MoloLamken to Host “Litigation Boutiques & Clerkships” at the University of Michigan Law School

Bush Seyferth and MoloLamken are pleased to invite University of Michigan Law School students to Litigation Boutiques & Clerkships: Big Cases. Small Teams. Early Opportunities., a panel discussion exploring the opportunities that litigation boutiques and judicial clerkships can offer to law students and young lawyers.

The program will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 3:00–4:00 PM at Jeffries Hall, Classroom 1020, at the University of Michigan Law School.

Litigation boutiques offer a distinctive path for lawyers interested in sophisticated, high-stakes disputes. With leaner teams and a focus on complex litigation, boutique practice can give associates opportunities to take on meaningful responsibility and develop substantive litigation experience early in their careers. Judicial clerkships provide an equally valuable perspective, offering an inside look at the judicial decision-making process and an opportunity to sharpen research, writing, and analytical skills.

The panel will bring together perspectives from both the bench and private practice. Judge Raymond M. Kethledge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit will be joined by Jennifer Fischell of MoloLamken and Justin Weiner of Bush Seyferth. Patrick Seyferth of Bush Seyferth will moderate the conversation.

Together, the panelists will discuss their experiences and offer insights for students considering clerkships, boutique litigation, or both. The conversation will explore what distinguishes boutique practice, the value of early substantive responsibility, how a judicial clerkship can shape a lawyer’s career, and what students should consider as they chart their own paths into litigation.

Students interested in complex litigation, appellate practice, judicial clerkships or simply learning more about career paths beyond the traditional large-firm model are encouraged to attend.
