Jeremy M. Sawyer focuses his practice on appeal and critical motions, serving as a member of BSP Law’s embedded appellate counsel practice. He also brings invaluable litigation experience from briefing and arguing before the Illinois Supreme Court.

Before joining BSP Law, Jeremy served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, where he represented the State of Illinois in appeals and argued before the Illinois Supreme Court. He previously clerked for the Honorable Michael B. Brennan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Honorable James Wesley Hendrix of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

In private practice, Jeremy was a litigation associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and Jenner & Block LLP. He represented clients in complex commercial disputes, including high-stakes shareholder litigation and regulatory investigations, while maintaining a robust pro bono practice. Earlier in his career, he gained experience as a Clinical Intern in the Health Care Fraud Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts and as a Volunteer Legal Intern in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Fraud Section.

Jeremy earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2019. There he served as Senior Editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. He received his B.A. in Law, Letters, and Society from the University Chicago in 2015.
