This article explores the work of Gregg Costa and Shawn Raymond with Teach for America and the founding of the Sunflower County Freedom Project in the Mississippi Delta. The Freedom Project embodies the founders’ belief that by nurturing curiosity and knowledge in children, they are empowered to choose the lives they wish to lead. This has been the guiding principle of the Project since its founding in 1999.
